My Kramer KB180 restorationreport!

I began with the tractor by taking the motor and transmission out in one piece. The transmission was in very good condition, so all I really needed to do was replace a couple of seals. The motor needed new piston rings, and the valves required regrinding. All the parts were sandblasted and resprayed. My Kramer KB 180 in "small parts" The fenders were a problem, they were too far gone to be repaired. With the help of my good friend Dirk van Mispelaar, I made a complete new one including the omega angle on the inside. This was quite a job to say the least!

My Kramer KB 180 with the new fenders!

Also the steering knuckle's ware very bad! I upweld the axle and have manifacture him on a lathe. After that i maked bearings of bronze. In the first photo you can see the place and the condition I first found her in, you'll notice she was then painted red.I was advised by a friend, that the right color was an shade of blue green. I didn't know the correct color number but in taking it apart I came across specks of the original color and had this matched. It is color number PF 6218 (autoflex van SIKKENS).The factory give as color of tractor before 1952 Blaugau RAL 7031 and after Patinagrün RAL 6000! The felly RAL 3002.After rebuilding both the generator and starter, I had to make a whole new wiring harness as well. This is my Kramer KB 180 now! Via a "link" to Woerden, in the Netherlands I came across a BUSATIS mowingarm with a matching original connector and as the photo shows, that is the "finishing touch" The girl sitting by me is Merel, the daughter of my LANZ pal Helmert. My Kramer KB 180 on tour!

If You look closely you can also see a good example of the headlights behind the grill instead of on the top. On the right photo is my KRAMER as it is on a ride in the summer of 1998 in Barneveld, the Netherlands. The incredibly beautiful woman behind the steering wheel is my wife, Els (after all the years of nagging over my "old toys", look who also is addicted).
